Tukang Nggame clipping - Now Ben Southall of Britain has landed a six-month job strolling the white sands of a tropical island after being crowned the winner of a "best job in the world" contest. He was born on March 6, 1975 in Ropley, Hants and says his strengths include determination in adversity, meticulous planning, working and playing hard and being energetic. Mr Southall describes himself as a dynamic, gregarious and hardworking go-getter.
Mr Southall, an adventurer from Petersfield, Hants, has already travelled the world on fundraising expeditions.
He worked as a tour guide in Africa after graduating from university with a science degree and then came back to the UK where he has spent the past few years working as a charity events manager and fundraiser.
The Best Job has arguably been the most successful tourism promotion ever launched anywhere in the world. The contest generated worldwide interest, and Southall, who used to work in fund-raising, beat out 34,000 other applicants.
Southall will earn $100,000, and his new pad also comes equipped with a swimming pool and golf cart.
The contest was part of Tourism Queensland's plan to bring more visitors to the 600 islands around the Great Barrier Reef.
